I finally came to the decision that I’ll be releasing the first book, “Theft of Sapphire” completely free on Amazon (link pending). This has been my passion project for a few years now. In fact, Theft of Sapphire is one of the only books I’ve ever completely re-written. That’s right. Completely. I completed a 120,000 word novel, and decided it wasn’t as good as I needed it to be, and the parts that were salvageable weren’t really worth it. So I scrapped the whole thing and started the project from scratch. The concept and world carried over, and Judah’s family: the odd ones, Barnaby, Grace and Judah himself all carried over. But that was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever made. Especially considering that it took me six months to write the book the first time. It isn’t easy starting over, but I knew it was the right call, and I can’t help but feel validated in my decision, all these years later. I’m more in love with the project than ever before.
All that is to explain why I’m giving the first book away for free–for a limited time. Most important to me right now, is for people to share this world and characters with me. Everything about this project is about making it the best it can be for readers. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: I don’t love writing, I love reading. I write so I can read. I’m a reader first. I want people to be able to enjoy this book, and I want people who are on the fence about it, to give it a go anyway. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised. I won’t be charging for the Kindle version, as for paperback, you’ll be charged whatever it costs Amazon to print the book, but nothing more. I won’t make a cent. Writing books was never about making money when I started. Obviously, I want books to be my career–I don’t know an author who doesn’t. But this started when I was eleven. I wrote books for four years without even considering the thought of publication–it never even crossed my mine. I just loved writing stories and sharing them with my family.
And as my stories have gotten better and my skills have improved, my audience has grown. I’m proud of The Horrendous Imaginings, and want as many people as possible to read it. The world and characters and story were always meant to be shared.
So for now, head on over to amazon for your free copy! (link coming December 25th) If you like it, I’d really appreciate you leaving me a review. Thanks in advance! I hope you come to enjoy Judah’s story as much as I do.
